For the HECKMAG magazine, I created an illustration that explores the intense emotions of heartbreak and the longing to escape reality. The artwork features a young person staring directly at the viewer, while unfamiliar hands peel back layers of skin like strips of tape. Beneath these layers, memories of better times are revealed—a glimpse of carefree days spent wandering through tall grass in the warmth of the sun.
This visual concept is meant to capture the raw and vulnerable feeling of heartbreak, where present pain strips away the surface to expose the echoes of happier moments. It reflects the human desire to retreat from reality and return to a time when things were simpler and lighter, highlighting the bittersweet contrast between memory and the present.
